Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Kia Sorento

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Kia Sorrento we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins plug-in simple wiring harness for factory tow package with a 4-pole flat trailer connector. That's going to be part number HM11143965.So here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It is going to stay on the outside of our vehicle. But the nice thing is is that it's going to be right here next to the hitch whenever we're ready to tow. It's going to provide us with a 4-pole flat trail connector, which is going to give us all the required lights to get our trailer down the road safely - such as our brake lights, turn signals and our tail lights. Comes with this nice dust cover that's going to keep all the debris and moisture out, and hopefully prevent any kind of corrosion building up on the inside. The nice thing about this wiring is that it's going to work with our factory tow package. more

Best 2016 Kia Soul Trailer Wiring Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2016 Kia Soul. Here we have the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring harness, and over here we have the CURT vehicle wiring harness. Now both of our kits are going to give us a four-pole flat to hook up to our trailer and give us all the required lights, such as our turn signals, stop lights, and clearance lights. Now both of them are going to stay on the outside of the vehicle until we're ready to use them. Let's take a closer look at some of the differences. Now one of the biggest differences, although it may be small, is the dust covers. Our CURT is going to have a removable and replaceable dust cover, whereas our Tekonsha is going to be built in. Now the way these are both going to be installed is we're going to have a t-connector that's going to go in between our taillights and our wiring from our vehicle. Now one benefit that CURT does have as far as installation goes is that the wires are going to be somewhat smaller at the connection points compared to the Tekonsha here, so it will be a little bit easier to get the wires in place behind our taillights. Now both our kits are going to have converter boxes so that we know that our trailer's going to get the right signal. more

This is going to give us right turn, left turn, running lights and ground to our trailer or cargo carrier, whatever we plan on plugging into. To do that it's going to actually take the signal from the factory connector located at the rear passenger side of the vehicle, sends those signals into the converter box, where it's then going to convert those over to a usable signal for the trailer. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Kia Sorento

Today on our 2011 Kia Sorento, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, with Four Pull Flat Trailer Connector, part number C56163. Here's what this wiring is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see it's easily accessible, down here at the hitch. If you want you can pick up a mounting bracket in order to mount this up, so that it's not tight here, that way it's over to the side. This four pull wiring harness is going to do a great job at making sure that you have four pull power here at the rear of the vehicle, so you can hook up to a trailer, or a cargo carrier that has lights on it. This wiring harness is going to do a good job of protecting your vehicle's wiring harness because it draws its power directly from the battery, as opposed to from the circuit of the vehicle itself. It just uses the signal from the circuit in order to know what it needs to send power out through that circuit on the wiring harness. The circuits for the brake and turn signals are rated at 5 amps. The circuit for the running lights is also rated at 5 amps, which should be plenty to power any lights on a smaller trailer. Now, let's show you how to install this wiring harness. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Kia Soul

Today on our 2016 KIA Soul we're going to be taking a look at, and installing, the Curt T connector wiring harness with four pull flat trailer connector, part number C56222. Here's what it looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see, on this one we've got it mounted to a four pull bracket and a universal long bracket here just to help make it easy to access when necessary. What this does is allows you to have a location to plug your four fold trailer wiring into so that you can operate the lights on your trailer. It features a module box which helps to ensure that there's no electrical back feed into the vehicles electrical system to help protect the vehicle. Something that's nice about this wiring harness is that it doesn't have a power wire that you have to route all the way to the front and up to the battery as with some of these other trailer wiring harnesses. An issue that some people have run into when installing this wiring harness is having enough green wire to go from the drivers side tail light across to the passenger side tail light, but within the install video to follow we'll show you how we routed it in order to not have to add any wire. more
